In the book, The Hunger Games, one of the main events is when Katniss volunteers for her sister, Prim, to participate in the annual Hunger Games. After reading this event, I was very surprised. I noticed that Katniss surprised herself by saying she would volunteer, but then quickly recovered once she remembered that the reaping would be shown on television. “…this is upsetting me and I don’t want to cry. When they televise the replay of the reapings tonight, everyone will make note of my tears, and I’ll be marked as an easy target.

Katniss chooses volunteers for her sister Primrose at the district 12 reaping to participate in a yearly event called The Hunger Games. She is forced to fight against the other tributes chosen from the other districts.
Katniss’s father died in a mine explosion; however, before he died he was teaching Katniss how to shoot a bow and a arrow. Katniss is now using this skill to hunt in the woods (which is forbidden and you can be punished by death) to supply for her family. This shows that Katniss is very brave. Katniss loves her sister Prim every much, in fact so much that Prim was chosen to go play in the annual Hunger Games to represent District 12 and Katniss was so brave and bold she volunteered herself because she knew Prim would not survive a second in the Hungers Games.
The Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen is a dynamic 16 year old girl character in the novel The Hunger Games, out of 13 districts she lives in panem in district 12 with her mother and little sister. What makes katniss a dynamic character is her loving,caring, and brave characteristics throughout the book. katniss is a loving character who loves her family and others and did whatever it took to keep them well.katniss knew she was strong and would do better than everyone else from district 12.“I could be shot on the daily basis for hunting, but the appetites of those in charge protect me” (p.17)For the love Katniss have, she sacrifices her life for the ones she love.katniss doesn't forget the good things that happened in her life.:”kind people have a way of working their way inside me and rooting there”. (p.49)katniss take in good things and it stays inside her, like the time when peeta gave her some bread when she was hungry, she remembered that moment for years.
Essential to overcoming adversity is the ability to cause change in yourself and others. In the book, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Katniss Everdeen, has to learn to be strong and brave in a crisis. This helps her to survive the Hunger Games, because it gives her more faith especially when the price of losing her family is on the line. Ultimately, Collins shows that Bravery and strength leads to a successful person and can help one survive in something life changing.

When Katniss’ sister is chosen for the Hunger Games, a death match between kids of each district, Katniss has to volunteer in her place.
Katniss had to be responsible for keeping her family and friends safe and alive, but she also had to take care of herself. In chapter eleven the Hunger Games had began and Katniss left behind the bow that was supposed to “belong to her”. She knew that there was no way she could have survived without it, but she also knew that it was her fault and she had to survive without it. In Chapter 13 Katniss was being “chased” by a fire and fire balls were being thrown at her. She got severely burned and couldn’t do much at all so she had to fix her own leg because there was no one else to help her.
