It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. How to make tomorrow the best day ever by Jay on May 2, 2011 My sleeping schedule has sucked this past week. Usually I get around 8-8.5 hours of sleep each night – this week I’ve been averaging 6-7 hours. Unfortunately even this small difference in sleep makes a huge difference in my mood, productivity, and overall quality of life. Don’t get me wrong – this has been a good week (my birthday was a few days ago). If I got more sleep, though, it could have been even better. I have been drowsy and have had zero motivation the past few days and I know exactly why: lack of sleep. I am not an advocate of oversleeping. Sleeping too much is just as bad for your mood and well-being as not sleeping enough. Most of us need between 7-9 hours of sleep a night, and if we’re getting more or less on average we’re not going to perform at our peak. I talk a lot about building your life from the ground up, starting with your physiological needs. Of these basic needs I believe that sleep is the most important. That means if I could make one healthy lifestyle change, it would be to get more sleep (or get my sleeping schedule right). A good night’s rest sets you up for a successful day.
