On two different visits, the main page on the website featured a different image and call to action. One featured food and said “See You Tonight”. When clicked, this image brings the user to the menu screen. The other image features gift cards and when clicked brings the user through to a card purchase screen. The lower half of the main page contains social media links and content, reviews, Keg branded products and more. Again, the content here varies each time the page refreshes. Item names and descriptions are simple and practical for the most part. They generally describe the item for what it is or how it is prepared, for example, six ounce sirloin or pistachio crusted salmon. Very few menu items feature long descriptions or excessive use of adjectives or catch phrases. The website also provides basic nutritional information for each item and there is also a calculator option that allows the user to add food and beverages from different sections of the menu to provide a meal for which totals are presented. Each major section of the menu has a feature photograph and that is it. The food items in the photos are well-presented and the photographs are of high quality, but I do not feel that they could be classified as food porn. While definitions of food porn vary, the concept invokes an air of the unattainable. That is not the case here. The food in the pictures is not an unrealistic portrayal. While it may be better plated than what you may be served in the restaurant, photographs are not unrealistic. In fact, the photos presented are not too far off from those provided by restaurant patrons on the social media links and review sites connected to the main site.
