1. Kenlie has always kept to herself or limited herself to playing with one friend at a time. Because of her tendency to shy away from seeking out additional friendships, she would also shy away from taking part in physical activities with friends. We wanted to stop this type of behavior at an early age of social and physical development so we often encourage Kenlie to join sports teams, clubs or after school groups. It is with these types of activities that she would be able to continue social development as well as develop an interest in physical activity. We have enrolled her in dance and gymnastics to start. Ever since Kenlie started showing advanced cognitive function, we have encouraged her to build on it. We have supported her development by being active participants in helping her learn to read, expand her vocabulary, conceptualize, calculate mathematics and develop a thirst for learning. At 4 years old she was able to write her own name and read a few words. Her ability to pronounce the language was on par with those of her own age. Her vocabulary and storytelling were quite advanced but we knew we had to continue pushing her to develop even faster at this time of her development. Her math skills were also advanced. At the age of 8, Kenlie has excelled at an even greater pace than we had imagined. All of her language development and mathematical testing showed her to be gifted in all areas. Fortunately, Kenlie does not have any special needs that need improvement. We plan to take the advice of her psychologist and provide special education in the form of the gifted program at school. At 6 years old, Kenlie was strong in reading and writing as well as in the areas of speaking and communicating. She loves to study social studies and science and has shown to be very strong in those specific subjects. She has also advanced in mathematics, being a year ahead of the rest of her class. She can improve in spatial understanding and visual arts. We let her draw and color as she wants, helping her draw more realistic features. At 8 years old, she continued to be advanced (in the gifted range) in speaking and communicating as well as in math. It was recommended that she be further tested for advanced placement for math. She still lags behind her other scores in her visual-spatial ability, which remained average. This same category had previously shown to be average. To try to boost her visual-spatial ability, we sometimes paint pictures together but I am not sure that she enjoys it all that much. We will continue to work on her deficiency as well as aid her in the areas that she already advances. We also continue seeking additional reading for her to expand her vocabulary and expose her to high level material. Since she enjoys science so much, we have shown her where she can learn more about science in magazines and we also continue to go to the
