Kenny Chesney and Keith Urban music comparison report The legendary Kenny Chesney (Kenneth Arnold) was “born on March 26, 1968 in Knoxville Tennessee” (Grooves Music). “Kenny was raised in Luttrell Tennessee with only his one sibling, his younger sister Jennifer Chandler. He graduated from Gibbs High School, where he was very involved playing baseball and football” (Wiki). Kenny received his first guitar for christmas and then had begin to self teach himself to play. “Attending school at East Tennessee State University, he studied advertising but while he was attending he paired up with a college band and started writing his own songs and then started playing at local bars” (Biography). …show more content…

He ended up performing at several different clubs there, he was a regular at a honky tonk bar called The Turf. The artist had a slow start but then eventually Kenny “caught the attention of some producers and companies and signed a recording contract with Capricorn Records” (Biography). Kenny has now sold millions of many of his songs, and has been “named entertainer of the year by the Country Music Association four times” (Wiki). Kenny’s music is described as the genre country for everyone of his songs. His music had changed over the years quite a little bit, when he first started out all of his music was close to the same tunes and country style but over the years he has added a bit of an upbeat pop to his country mix making his music now country pop. Kenny’s music is greatly influenced by his early life, most of his songs talk about his high school experiences with football, baseball, girls, I think that is why most of us teenagers relate so much to his music is because it talks about high school experiences. His “dad had owned a convenience store and had put up a sign searching for a guitar teacher” for Keith so he could learn how to play (Wiki). Two rock players had influenced Keith for his want to learn how to play guitar; those two artists were Lindsey Buckingham and Mark Knopfler. Soon enough they found Keith a guitar teacher and he began his way to success. Keith had already “attended Sir Edmund Hillary Collage by the age of thirteen. By the age of seventeen he was living with his parents”, that is when he started learning how to play the guitar (Wiki). Years later after that he made his way into Australian country music with regular appearances on different tv programs. Soon enough Keith decided it was time to take on nashville. “His first nashville band was called The Ranch” and they hit it big for a little while (Grooves Music). Though the band was doing well, Keith decided his talents were more than beyond and wanted to take things to another level and go solo.
