The French Revolution is a major event in the history of the world. The reason being is it’s revolutionary. There are several key events that truly define what makes it revolutionary. The key events being: the storming of the Bastille, the trial and execution of King Louis XVl, the reign of terror, and the rise of Napoleon. The storming and the capture was a big part of what made it revolutionary. There were two parts that made the storming of the Bastille important. The first one being the deeper meaning within the attack. It was symbolic for the end of the ancient regime. The storming and capture showed France that it was time for a change. The second part was the violent way that went about the capture. This set the tone for the revolution. The revolutionaries taking what they wanted by force. They stormed the Bastille killing the prison guards to finally get a hold of the governor. The governor was then killed and beheaded. His head was put on a spike, then paraded through the streets. The revolutionaries at first still want to have the King part of their governing system just not as an absolute monarch. Although, he didn’t want anything to do with a constitutional monarchy. Another reason on what made this revolutionary, was the fact that the king was executed in public. It was a show for everyone to see. Not only did it send a message saying the revolutionaries were done with the monarchy, but a sign to anyone who opposed the idea. This showed their power and that they were able to take down the king
