Everyone is different when they start practicing something new, something that is out of their comfort zone. Normally people do not like performing anything that involves them leaving their bubble; they just like to keep it simple. People do things that they like and what they are used to, not expected or indifferent things. One can pretty much expect what these people do because they do the same thing every day, there is no change in their life and they either do not like change or they do not like doing things that put them in a difficult position. A significant event that has changed his life is when he is on one of the dwarfs back running away from the goblins and they trip on a rock and Bilbo falls into a cave hitting his head. While trying to figure his way out he discovers a circle like the product and subsequently finds out that it is a magic ring that can turn anyone invisible that uses it. One will learn more about the nature of hobbits and dwarves, wizards and elves, one will infer more about Gollum and why Bilbo’s meeting with him was so significant in the event of the lord of the rings. In addition, they essentially follow the same narrative line and that is one reason to read the hobbit first. Another note is that Tolkien wrote in a style that is a bit more formal and more intellectual than most modern fiction writers. Also reading the hobbit first before reading Lord of the Rings has enriched my interpretation because now that I have read some of Tolkien’s writing I know his style and what he is lecturing about. I have this image in my head when he starts talking about a character I know what character he is talking about as well as how the character acts. Moreover, I’m conversant with his process of thinking and I am not confused about his book, then if I just read Lord of the rings and not knowing anything about the author and his writing
