The key passage in the story "Life of PI" by Yann Martel is at the beginning of chapter thirty-seven. The first important part of the passage is when Pi is stranded on the lifeboat in the middle of the Ocean, and he sees someone he knows and thanks all the leaders of the faiths he believed in, Muslim, Hindu, and Christian. This is important because one of the main themes of the story is religion.
