Inquiry-based learning is a constructivist pedagogical approach, which allows students to actively explore and investigate topics whilst the teacher acts as a guide (Cleovoulou & Beach, 2019). The process for an inquiry-based unit follows the basic structure of introducing the inquiry question or focus questions by the teacher, independent research carried out by the students, drawing conclusions from the research, and taking action from the findings (Reynolds, 2014). Students are therefore actively involved in their own learning process, which is shown to increase their engagement in the content and allow for deeper understanding (Gilbert et al., 2019). Inquiry based learning is clearly embedded in the HASS curriculum, evidenced by the inquiry questions that are included for teachers to cover within each year level, and the inquiry skills that are taught and applied alongside the content (ACARA, 2022). Each year
In order to make connections to the previous lesson, students will recall information that was previously learned, such as the definition of main idea and detail, explain the ways to identify the main idea, and describe details in a story. Making connections to skills they have previously learned adds value to the content the students are learning. I will model examples, guide instruction, and allow students to collaborate with peers in order to support student learning until they are able to identify the main idea and describe supporting details on their own. There will be differentiated instruction and assessments for students on different learning levels. It is important to teach to the students’ learning needs in order to see progress in all students.

The term key person is a practitioner that is responsible for a small group of children, they are also there to support the child through their stages of development and make sure the child feel’s safe in the setting. The key person will react to children’s needs and help them settle into the new environment. Therefore the communication between parent and the key person would be much linked because they are the practitioner who is in charge of the child, which is also helpful to parents as they would know who to contact about their child’s. The key person role in day to day practice is to settle the children by making sure they are relaxed and happy in the environment, so they don’t cry when the time comes for their parents to leave.
A strength of PMHS service coordination units is that services are aimed to assist the “whole person.” We meet consumers at their levels, work on what is important to them and create an individualized approach to help each consumer. Additionally, strength of the unit is paperwork. From intake to closing, paperwork provides structure to the unit and stands something tangible for both consumers and SCs to see their progress, even if they still have more work before obtaining all of the consumer’s goals. On the other hand, limitations include a disproportion number of SCs compared to other unit.

Concept attainment is an inquiry-based instructional strategy that is suitable for teaching notions that have an open set of attributes. Concepts have a name, a definition, examples, and critical attributes or characteristics. They are also ideas or abstractions that are formed by putting data into observable categories (Lemlech, 2010). The primary point of this model is to allow students to create their own definitions and understanding.
