I have decided to look at the martial arts industry, in particular, teaching Kickboxing. I chose this service because I have a keen interest in Martial Arts and have been participating in various combat sports for around 15 years. I have been Kickboxing for approximately 7 years and I am currently a Second Degree Black Belt.
Kickboxing is a relatively new Martial Art, first rising to prominence in 1970s America. It combines elements of traditional combat sports such as Karate, Muay Thai and Boxing, blending them into a freestyle combat system. This adaptation of other disciplines gives it more offensive and defensive capabilities, and gives students a greater wealth of techniques to learn than some Martial Arts. This variety can help reach a wider demographic and can be adapted by both sexes and all ages, it also aids in keeping students challenged and interested.

Martial Arts discipline can be seen to be most effective when taught to children. It can often be used as a tool to help disruptive children become better adjusted to societal norms.
Before presenting the SWOT analysis I would like to give a brief background to the current sporting trends within the UK. Recently there has been a big drive in to get more UK citizens participating in sport. In particular, focus has been on children and women. Statistics for 2014/15, show that 19.1% of children aged 10-11 were obese and a further 14.2% were overweight. There has also been a large government initiative to get more women and girls participating in sport.
Based on the above information I have performed the following SWOT analysis:
