Kill Bill: Volume 1 is a crime and thriller film directed by Quentin Tarantino that was released in 2002 by Miramax Films. Kill Bill: Volume 1 tells the story of a bride, looking for revenge on those who tried to assassinate her. Beatrice Kiddo, also known as “The Bride,” was a former member of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad where she went under the codename, “Black Mamba.” The movie begins with Beatrice, pregnant, in a church rehearsing for her wedding. Bill, the leader of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad and Beatrice’s ex-lover, shows up at her rehearsal and they begin a conversation. Bill did not show up to send her off, he came with the rest of the D.V.A.S and crashed the rehearsal, presumably massacring everyone in the process. …show more content…

Chapter 3 gives background information on O-Ren and the story on how she became who she was today. At nine, She witnessed her father and mother being murdered by Yakuza, and trained to be able to get revenge on her family. She became one of the deadliest female assassins in the world, and settled to become the head of the Tokyo Yakuza. During these scenes, the cinematography is what make this chapter one of the most iconic scenes in the movie. The flashback scenes are in an animation style. The animation is very exaggerated and the characters are seen as laughing hysterically, which adds a comedic effect. Allowing these scenes to be done in animation allows the characters to do what the real-life actor’s couldn't. The killing scenes were very graphic. Having scenes of O-Ren’s background is important because she was one of the main perpetrators in the massacre, and the flashbacks allow the viewer to develop an insight of the character. It helps give the feeling that even the secondary characters are as important as the main
