As manager of “Kilwins Ice Cream Store,” I have been asked to develop a new ice cream flavor to sell in our store. At Kilwins, we pride ourselves for offering a variety of flavors that appeals to consumers of all ages, and this product will do the same. To begin, I decide on generating ideas for potential flavors, and therefore select four coworkers to participate in a brainstorm. We limit ourselves to five minutes, and emphasize that every idea is important. In five minutes, we list thirty different ice cream flavor combinations. Out of these thirty, we select the best ten, which I will then examine to see which ones agree with our consumers’ preferences. Next, I research our existing top selling flavors to see what the customers are looking for in an ice cream. What kind of base flavor do consumers prefer? Which toppings do our customers savor the most? From my research, I found that our customers enjoy ice cream that has a vanilla base with crunchy mix-ins and extravagant toppings. To accomplish this, I invite fifteen of our most loyal customers into the store for an after-hour private tasting event. They each enjoy the five flavors. After taste testing each flavor, they let us know which one was they favorite, what made it the most memorable, and on a scale of one to ten how likely they are to purchase it in the future. The winner has been chosen, Nutella Cookie Dough Heath Bar Crunch. Finally, we ask them for suggestions on how we can improve the texture, taste, or name of the ice
