I am, a Kinesthetic and Auditory learner because I’m very good at sports like football and other sports. To add on, I’m good at good at listening,reading,writing, and math. In addition, I also am very good at science every year that I was in science I scored higher than the scoring average for all the grades I have been in. Kinesiology is the study of body movement and physical therapy lies in a career that relates to aiding many people with injuries, diseases, or deformity. Having the ability to help people physically and mentally has influenced my choice to enter the field of sport medicine. Opening To the Adult World In The novel, The House on Mango Street, by Sandra Cisneros, the protagonist, Esperanza discovers that “One cannot help those who will not help themselves.” Written in third person point of view, the author supports her theme by describing the setting of Mango Street, establishing the central conflict through her neighbors. This affects the work as a whole because Cisneros purpose is to open Esperanza’s eyes to the adult world through her role models Sally, Marin, and Alicia. Cisneros includes a mood of anxiety for the teenage reader. The authors treatment of teenage issues relates to the overall meaning of the novel showing “that growing up is difficult especially for young adults.”

I have wanted to pursue a career in the medical field since I was a child. In high school, this passion was put to the test after I suffered a bilateral hip injury that made mundane tasks like going up stairs, getting dressed, or even standing a painful and taxing ordeal. I was advised to quit all physical activity by my team of doctors, but as a three sport athlete for me that was not an option.
I am applying to your PhD in Kinesiology program with a focus on building upon relevant previous experience and education and preparing me towards my career. As a result of my enduring interest in sports, I studied Anthropology of Sports at the University. During my internship at the University of Calgary through the Student for Development Program (SFD), I had the opportunity to learn about the possibility and opportunity of studying sports at the University. Unfortunately, in my native country, there is generally a scarcity of experts in this area and specifically a negligible number of women in this field, and explains why I hope to gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of how sports can be applied to improve the general wellbeing (physical and mental) of participants and benefit to society. Body Kinesthetic: an individual’s ability to move an object skillfully and the coordination to move their body. Musical: an individual’s interpretation of tone and pitch including the understanding of rhythm and harmony. Visual/Spatial: an individual’s ability to judge distance as well as their ability regarding high order thinking such as understanding mazes and maps.
Another approach that supports the use of bodily-kinesthethic and visual-spatial intelligences is Fleming’s Visual Auditory Kinesthetic (VAK) Learning Styles. Fleming postulates that most people have a preferred way of acquiring knowledge, either visual, auditory or kinesthetic. Literature Review “Children know how to learn in more ways than we know how to teach them.” —Ronald Edmonds (1991) Each child learns in a different way, therefore if teachers are mainly focused on instructing the majority auditory/visual learners; the students who have different learning styles needs aren’t being met, which results in lack of basic skills moving forward. The idea of one instructional strategy fitting all is creating a void in classrooms; which in turn is failing to help those students struggling the most. Campbell, Helf, and Cooke, (2008) suggests a reason for some students’ ongoing lack of achievements that, “too often, students are instructed indirectly, watching and listening to the teacher or other students with little or no opportunity to actually read” (p. 268).
The four realms of experience” (Pine and Gilmore 1998,1999) is a figure created to identify what creates a memorable experience; namely “Entertainment, Education, Esthetics, and Escapism. “ (Hanssen, A. G. (2011). Entertainment category shows that people participate passively and their experiences is leaning towards immersion. Education category requires an active participation however its relationship to its environment is more absorption. Escapist is a combination of educational and entertainment experiences and is more immersion than absorption.
