Jim Gilmore/King Arthur Comparison The modern politician that I see as closest to Arthur is Jim Gilmore. I think this because he sees what is right in our modern world. Along with the rule in Marijane’s country, women have to wear restrictive clothing. In Iran, Marijane is forced to wear a veil at young age after the Islamic Revolution in 1979. Of course, she did not understand why she had to wear the veil so it’s no surprise Marijane and her friends played with the veil instead(1). However, Marijane never agrees with the clothing standards and goes against them constantly throughout her life in Iran.

Was King Arthur a favorable leader in his time of ruling? In King Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table by Roger Lancelyn Green, Arthur is a strong leader because he shows bravery, loyalty, and chivalry which are all trates an excellent leader should have. King Arthur is a brave king because he was who pulled the Excalibur from its stone, not any other knight nor king. Throughout this semester we have read many different time periods. These time periods have been the Middle Ages, Sixteenth Century, Early Seventeenth Century, Eighteenth Century, The Restoration, Romantics, Victorians, Moderns, and The Arthurian Legends. All these different eras of readings had one very important thing in common and that was the treatment of women. The era I will be talking about is the Arthurian Legends because this era is very well known throughout literature and the world today. However, out of all the Arthurian Legends I will be writing about "The Lady of Shalott" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson.
He encompassed one of the most essential traits of being a leader, which is being authentic. This is evident in him understanding his purpose of being king; which was to bring change into the dictator political infrastructure. He practiced solid values such as integrity through demonstrating to people that he is not deviating from his purpose of bringing democracy as well as demonstrating self-discipline through adjusting his actions to meet his purpose. He established enduring relationships to ensure that people know that he cares about what they want and how he is going to do it. And lastly, he demonstrated courage through standing up against the bunker whom embraces an opposite political mindset as the one he envisioned for the future.
He completes his goal to be remembered in the minds of his people through his slaying of Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. But, he loses his close companion Enkidu and his chance at a restored youth. He goes from being someone who throws his weight around and uses his strength to take what he wants to someone who is respected and revered as a hero by the people of his town. However, I do not see him to be a hero. Yes, he changes for the better and completes heroic acts along the way, but many things he does are done to help improve his reputation or used to show off.
