King Arthur King Arthur, a legendary medieval British leader who was so called the head of the kingdom and a part of the knight of the Round Table. There is hardly any records about Arthur, it seems like there is only fairy tales instead of history about him. King Arthur was born in Tintagel, who was the son of King Uther Pendragon and Igraine the Duchess of Cornwall, and Igraine was all so the first wife of Gorlois of Cornwall. There is debate whether Arthur was an actual historical person, there is not very ample evidence whether or not he is real. Arthur came to be known by the popularity of Geoffrey’s stories of King Arthur. Geoffrey’s stories where not made up, but the stories came from much earlier sources about Arthur. According to medieval historians King Arthur spearheaded the defensive effort to protect Britain against Saxon invaders. Arthur was not raised by his actually parents, but by a wizard name Merlin. Merlin took Arthur in his care because of the deal Merlin and King Uther made. King Uther fell in love with the wife of Duke of Cornwall and with Uther wanting her so bad he made a deal with Merlin. The deal was that the first born by Uther and Igraine, the Wife of the Duke. Merlin gave Uther a spell where it disguises him as Igraine’s husband so Uther can sneak in bed with her.
