In 1910, Branch Rickey coached a college team with one black player. That player, Charley Thomas, was refused a hotel room with the team and had to sleep on a cot in Mr. Rickey’s room. Charley was emotionally distressed and he could not sleep. He tried to scratch off the skin of his own hands, wishing he were white, so he would feel as good as anybody.
Overlea Boulevard, in the Thorncliffe Park community, has been identified by the City of Toronto as a main street corridor that requires a new plan to address the transition of land uses in the area and to more readily address the needs of the residents within the community. The community has a significant south Asian immigrant population in addition to various other ethnicities that live within the immediate area. It is estimated that the area immediately south of Overlea Blvd. and along Thorncliffe Park Dr. has a population of over 30,000 people. Besides the pressures of housing and providing services to such a populous and diverse community there is the need to provide community-gathering spaces and to improve Overlea Blvd.
The Speech of Desperation Patrick Henry was a man who wanted to start a militia and fight the British , by doing so he told his convincing speech of his own words and those who were at the second Virginia convention never forgot his bold and emotional closing words. “Give me liberty, or give me death!” The purpose of his speech was to convince the people of the Virginia Convention to fight against the British by starting a militia. He used logos to induce the people listening to his speech at the Virginia Convention. it was important for Patrick Henry to persuade the people to fight against the British because eventually they would be destroyed or conquer the people.

But is that what we really have? It is clear that King George III is not treating us how he would treat his citizens when we are still his people. He’s ignoring our complaints and needs and is making up laws that are unfair and brutal. Remember how hard we fought in the French-Indian War.
