Comparing King David to D’Artagnan can be complex. Why is this you might ask? Well for starters we are comparing two different figures from two completely different eras. King David was Born in 907 BCE, he reigns as king of Israel for 40 years, and died at age 70 in 837 BCE (Smith). And on the other hand according to The Three Musketeers, a historical novel by Alexandre Dumas, it was Set in 1625– 1628. So this the era D’Artagnan began his journey to becoming successful as a musketeer. Comparing these two figures we have to ask questions such as; what are their strength and weakness? What are his dreams and goals? I know this might be totally different from D’Artagnan, but just because he was in a different era than he is doesn't mean he didn't have any goals and dreams. Like I said before David was born in 907 BCE. To Jesse and Nitzevet. David was the youngest son out of eight sons that Jesse had. All along God had a plan for him no matter how young he was. We first encounter with David we see is when he a lad in his father's home in Bethlehem, where Samuel anointed him king over Israel (The Holy Bible, English Standard Version, I Sam. 16 1-13). He ask first what was the reward for the person that beat this giant. “ And David said to the men who stood by him, "What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel?”(1 Samuel 17.26). Similar thing happen with D’Artagnan when his landlord ask him to go on a mission to save his wife because she was abducted. She was abducted because she is a close friend of the queen. The cardinal took her because he is trying to get back at the queen for not loving him back. He likes the queen, but the queen does like him. The queen is having an affair with the Duke of Buckingham. He is an ambassador from England. He’s very rich and also very handsome. He’s the second most powerful man in England beside the king himself. The cardinal took landlord wife to get information about the queen and the Duke of Buckingham. D’Artagnan took this bad situation has a way to make money because at this point the Three musketeers and himself were broke (Dumas, Alexandre, Maurice Leloir, and Basil Davenport). The landlord told him that he will reward
