In Act 3 scene 2 of Macbeth from the Freed- Hardeman University production, Chris Pate acts as Macbeth and Tansy Waldrop acts as Lady Macbeth. Both of the actors present themselves properly. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses juxtaposition to set up foils that highlight different characteristics of Macbeth: Duncan reveals the depth of Macbeth’s depravity, while Banquo emphasizes Macbeth’s ambition, and Lady Macbeth accentuates Macbeth’s insecurities; exemplifying how a fatal flaw leads to a downfall. Duncan blindly trusts his subjects by providing them with numerous words of praise and rewards. After the former Thane of Cawdor is executed, the king proclaims,..., depicting his exceedingly naive and credulous features. Duncan's righteous personality contrasts with Macbeth’s cautious and cunning nature, and the virtuous ruler meets his end as his trust for Macbeth obscures Macbeth’s murderous motives. Similar to Duncan, Banquo is another
3. What is Macbeth's relationship to King Duncan? Macbeth is the General for King Duncan, in the army. Not only is he the general, he is the Kings cousin and/or Kinsmen.
King Duncan was a great leader and the people liked him because he looked out for them and cared for them because he wasn’t selfish. “Conduct me to my host; we love him highly and shall continue our graces towards him. By your leave, hostess”(Act 1, Scene 6). This quote shows how the people see King Duncan as a person and a ruler. He respects the people and they do the same.
The letter which Macbeth wrote Lady Macbeth accelerated Macbeth’s ambition to kill king Duncan. Once Macbeth gained knowledge of the prophecy about being thane of Cawdor he wrote Lady Macbeth and told her all about it. Macbeth made a big mistake by doing that. Since Macbeth told Lady Macbeth about the prophecy, Lady Macbeth became ambitious and wanted Macbeth to fulfill the prophecy. By both Macbeth’s and Lady Macbeth’s ambition they generated a plan to accelerate the process for Macbeth to become king of Scotland.
I was terrified when I find out that King Duncan was dead, I was worried for the country and asked myself many question on who will become the next ruler and wonder if that person is going to be as great as King Duncan. Much to my surprise I find out that Macbeth was in line to be the next King, knowing that my worries stop because I heard from many and saw for myself that Macbeth was a great general in war and very humble in person. Today in the evening I was invited to attend Macbeth crowning banquet. Before the banquet I picked my most expensive and fine clothing to put and getting ready to attend the banquet since I know there are going to be a lot of other noblemen there. I arrived to Macbeth’s castle and before the entrance I was checked
Macbeth is a play written by Shakespeare in 1606. Macbeth is essentially a story of a warrior who gets consumed by his own greed and ambition. Betrayal is a prevalent theme throughout the play that shifts power between the characters. In the beginning, the Thane of Cawdor betrayed the country and the king. When King Duncan heard the news he removed him from his position, “ No more that thane of Cawdor shall deceive Our bosom interest: go pronounce his present death, And with his former title greet Macbeth” (Shakespeare 1:2:63-66).
Thus, Macbeth conflicts with Duncan, Banquo, Lennox, Macduff, Ross, Mentieth, Simward, and all noble Scotsmen. Of course, Malcolm III must be included in this list, and even the three sisters whom Macbeth encounters in Act I since they make predictions that work against Macbeth.” (ENotes, “Homework Help”). As previously stated, most if not all characters present a kind of contrast towards Macbeth; all the characteristics of the minor characters highlight the flaws in the type of person Macbeth is. Duncan is a foil because of his role as king, the role that Macbeth desired and sought after.
“For brave Macbeth, well he deserves that name, with his brandish’d steel,Which smok’d with bloody execution, ( I.ii.15-23)”. It is vital that the audience is aware of Macbeth’s strengths early in the play, because it evolves Macbeth as a tragic hero when the audience witness Macbeth’s downfall, instigated by the witches and Lady Macbeth. Macbeth is seen as intelligent and kindhearted by Lady Macbeth who illuminates Macbeth’s personality" too full o’ th’ milk of human kindness/ Thou wouldst be great (1.v.15-19)”.
However, he and his family end up on the trail of Macbeth's murders as he is perceived as a threat to Macbeth's reign as king of Scotland. Duncan also succumbs to the destructive nature of Macbeth's ambition despite being the rightful king. He is also a victim of other people's ambitions who exploit his good character for their own gains
In Act 1, Scene 4 of Macbeth he says “Just giving the service and loyalty that I owe you is its own reward. It is Your Highness’s role to receive what we owe you; our duties are to your throne and state children and servants; which do but what they should, by doing everything Safe toward your love and honour.” This shows Macbeth’s feelings and support for Duncan. Macbeth expressing his feelings shows that he is not cruel and have almost love for Duncan. Also in Act 1, Scene 7, he says, “he has two reasons to trust me while he’s here: First, I am his relative and his subject- and as both, I have strong reasons not to do the deed.”
Macbeth’s mental condition begins to dwindle as time goes on, starting with the murder of Duncan. At first, Macbeth is seen as a soldier that everyone aspires to be, strong, brave, and compassionate about his duties to the king. In act one scene two, Captain says, “...For brave Macbeth-well he deserves that name-...” This shows that he is a likeable person who has only the objective of serving his king. After meeting with the witches and hearing his prophecy, Macbeth starts to think about what it would be like to be king of Scotland.
King Duncan makes an appearance, and decides to stay at Macbeth's place for a night. But when it got to greeting the King, only Lady Macbeth was there. No sign of Macbeth. During the party, Macbeth’s Lady and Macbeth plan to poison King Duncan.
Macbeth was a good and loyal warrior for king Duncan but after he heard the witches predictions, it changed the person inside him. This play is from one of the best writer of all time William Shakespeare. The play is “The Tragedy of Macbeth". It's a summary about how Macbeth became king in the eleventh century and after he took the throne.
