King Henry VIII Henry VIII was born on June 28, 1491. He became heir to the throne after the death of his brother, Prince Arthur, in 1502 and gained the throne in 1509. Other than his many marriages, Henry is known for his role in seperating the Church of England forn the pope and Roman Catholic Church. At young ages Henry was apointed many different roles to do throughout the kingdom. He became Constable of Dover castle and Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports at the age of two, and he was appointed Earl Marshal of England and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland at age three, and as he grew up he gained more and more roles. Catherine had been an excellent wife, but she didn't do what King Henry wanted the most, produce a healthy baby boy.Her first baby was born 7 months after the wedding on January 31, 1510. She gave birth to a daughter, stillborn. Within a year she gave birth to a son. The baby was apparently healthy and living, but the child soon sickend and died. In 1513, Catherine gave birth to another son and in 1514 she gave birth to yet another boy, neither of them survived. Queen Catherine's life had become ceaseless, desperate rounds of pregnancies and childbeds. It wasnt till February 18, 1516 when she finally produced King Henry a healthy, living child, a girl named Mary. Following the birth of Mary, Queen Catherine had another pregnancy. The baby girl only lasted a week. Through all the years she was married to King Henry VIII she had been pregnant 6 times. Catherine had several still births or the children only lived for a short period of time, Mary the only living child.
