The Battle of Aegospotami was a decisive naval battle fought in 405 BCE between the Spartans and the Athenians. The battle was fought at the end of the Peloponnesian war, resulting in Spartan victory, and the end of the war. The Peloponnesian War (431- 404 BCE) was fought between Ancient Greece’s most powerful city-states, Athens and Sparta. The war occurred because of the growing tensions between Athens and Sparta, and the Athenians controlling the Delian League, which was a military alliance led by Athens that protected its members who were unable to defend themselves from enemies. The Athenians lost the Battle of Aegospotami because they weren't strategically ready for a naval battle, the failure of their leadership and the success in Spartan
King Lear is a sad story written by William Shakespeare. It's about an old king named Lear who decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters based on how much they flatter him. But two of his daughters betray him, which makes him run mad. The play talks about power, family, betrayal, and how being too proud can lead to bad things. In the end, Lear's decisions cause a lot of tragedy, with many people dying and his kingdom falling apart.

How the girls did this was they each stepped up to there father and expressed how much they love him by saying “I love you more then words can express” (Page 25/ King Lear/ William Shakespeare). After they’re done with their speeches, The king finally decides who is the best fit.

In this hierarchical society would often breed greed, power among the family, people, nobles, rulers as they were all wanted to be above each other, to be more powerful than before, creating a world full of chaos and punishment among the people, disturbing the natural order. King Lear demonstrates how power could lead to the vulnerability to the parents and noblemen are to the depredations of unscrupulous children and thus how fragile the fabric of Elizabethan society actually
The audience sympathise with King Lear’s redemption. Throughout the play, he gets a chance at redemption to make up for his mistake of having “thy truth being the dower:” for his daughter. He realises the folly of his actions and redeems himself stating “I am a very foolish fond old man”. This demonstrates King Lear's change in character as he learns that he is not as powerful as thinks he was and starts to become more humble. There is a lure of sympathy for King Lear because a story of redemption inspires people and catches their imagination, that anything is possible.

This theory is proven to be true in William Shakespeare’s King Lear. The first scene in act one helped to introduce some of the themes that would be seen throughout the rest of the play like the idea of madness, reconciliation and the idea of authority versus chaos. One major theme was reconciliation. In the very beginning when Lear was asking his daughter how much they all loved him, Cordelia couldn’t come up with the right words to say that would express her feeling for her father and accused her sister of exaggerating their love for him.
