The story of something soon to be great all started in the spring of April 24, 1959 in Cleveland , Ohio. Edward Duane Hudson a.k.a King Salim Khalfani was born. He is considered a great american because of his constant strive to change the community around him. King Salim Khalfani is an American who has helped his community with multiple cases for justice including a case where he convinced Governor Bob McDonnell to get involved in the burial ground for negroes conflict. He also convinced Governor James Gilmore to settle the federal discrimination lawsuit for discrimination and disparate treatment to HBCUs (“Bio Info” message to the author 28 June 2014 email). Background Info Khalfani graduated from John F. Kennedy high school. He then furthered his education at Virginia Union University. Khalfani believed he would be at a basketball player at VUU but never touched the floor. Even though his sports career was down the drain Khalfani earned his degree in Political Science and History. He lasted 23 years and months. Some of his achievements include getting the governor to purchase a negro burial ground that was partially covered by a parking lot. This purchase was 3.3 million dollars. Another achievement was getting Governor James Gilmore to settle the federal discrimination lawsuit filed by the u.s DOJ against commonwealth for discrimination and disparate treatment of its historically black colleges , Norfolk and Virginia State Universities.The settlement was millions of dollars to help the two schools. His last and greatest achievement was fathering and raising his two kids Queen Nzinga , 13 and Suten Ramessu Khalfani , 7. These achievements show his constant strive for justice and to do better for not only his community but nationwide.
