There are many contrasts between diligence, laziness, wisdom and folly found all throughout the book of Proverbs. King Solomon writes in the book of Proverbs (chapter six) that we should learn from the ant who “prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest” Proverbs 6:6. The main element of this verse shows us that the upright or righteous person who works at preparing their fields and are diligent in their efforts will never go without while a wicked or unrighteous person who is considered a sluggard and does nothing to prepare is called worthless and will become reliant on others for sustenance and end up destitute in the long run. A wise man will utilize his wisdom, years of experience and clear understanding in order to labor and accomplish many good works for the Lord and others. Proverbs 10:4 ESV “A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.” Those who are discerning love the law of the Lord and accept rebuke while a foolish person believes he is right no matter what anyone tells him. People generally want to be around a wise person if they possess a sound disposition, unquestionable character, and respect that matches their Christian walk and the way they live their life. However, many will try to get away from a foolish person as they lack the capacity to think clearly or rationalize their inappropriate or negative behavior or care about the consequences of their actions as well as their affects on others. She has slaughtered her beasts; she has mixed her wine;she has also set her table. She has sent out her young women to call from the highest places in the town, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks sense she says, “Come, eat of my bread and drink of the wine I have mixed. Leave your simple ways, and live, and walk in the way of insight.” Wisdom is described in Proverbs as a diligent woman who is working around her house. The seven pillars represent that her family is wealthy and demonstrates that those who possess wisdom will be blessed. It also shows that those who are wise are hard workers since it says that she built the house herself and prepared the meal by slaughtering animals and mixing her wine. Wisdom is also described as being a gracious hostess by sending out her young women to invite people to her banquet. Wisdom invites everyone who is simple and all those who lack judgement to come and dine with her which tells us that wisdom is offered to those who need it
