Biography Research: King Tutankhamun “It was a sight surpassing all precedent, and one we never dreamed of seeing” (“Howard Carter Quotes”). King Tutankhamun died when he was 18 and many secrets are still to be uncovered about his tomb. Many scientists are trying to uncover all the secrets from his tomb but there are still many more to uncover. King Tut is one of the most famous Pharaohs of all time. Like all Pharaohs, King Tutankhamun had many responsibilities. Since King Tut was young when he was crowned king, his advisers helped him make decisions. King Tutankhamun’s step mother was Neferti (Hawass 39). The army commander was the one in charge until Tut was old enough to rule. When he was old enough to rule, he had a coronation which is typically a ceremony in honor of the new ruler. They had many crowns for kings for ruling different parts of Egypt. King Tut loved sports and chariot riding. He would go chariot riding almost daily and he enjoyed it a lot. He was a skilled commander and led his armies to many victories. Though there was a war after 50 years and their king wasn’t even 18 years old (Hawass 45). The young king and queen loved playing board games. In King Tutankhamun’s tomb, there were many baskets of food (Hawass 36). There was meat in the baskets like beef, part of goat, sheep, and a lot of goose and duck. He also had no beer but only fruit juice and wine. King Tut’s clothing could be from plain to exquisite. He had many pairs of clothing with him so he could have a whole “wardrobe” of clothing. The tomb is one of the many artifacts that made King Tutankhamun very famous. He doesn’t only have an enormous tomb but it was unscathed unlike many other tombs of kings and queens.
