This novel is based on loyalty and how to stick to people you care about the most. In the novel, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, it incorporates how the author, Elizabeth George Speare, shows Kit’s loyalty throughout the book. The Witch of Blackbird Pond is a historical novel where it shows Katherine Tyler, a teenage girl, going through Puritan life and having to give loyalty to other people. Based off of, The Witch of Blackbird Pond, Kit is most loyal to herself, the Wood family, and Hannah Tupper throughout the novel.
The Witch of the Blackbird Pond was about a girl named “Kit” or Katherine Tyler who ended up meeting a lady named Hannah Tuff, who people thought was a witch. Kit’s journey began when she moved to Wethersfield to live with her aunt named Rachael after her grandfather passed away. She traveled on a boat called the dolphin, and met Nat Eaten and flirted and hung out with him. She also met a polite, young man named John Holbrook. During the trip they stopped by America, and Kit got off the boat.

" Oliver's affair with the "black, slack earthsoup" is demonstrated as she faces her long coming combat against herself. Throughout this free verse poem, the wild spirit of the author is sensed in this flexible writing style. While Oliver's indecisiveness is obvious throughout the text, it is physically obvious in the shape of the poem itself.
In the book, The Witches: Salem 1692, the author Stacy Schiff attempts to condense a large volume of research into a cohesive narrative that tries to avoid to much speculation. There is some contention that the book does speculate into the motives of primary accusers that some reviewers have intimated are bordering on fiction. However, the author defends her arguments logically, and her inferences do seem to bridge the gaps effectively. One of the items that causes some confusion, to both the historically curious, and to the researcher is that the author has created a list of dramatis personae in which the historical figures are labeled as a cast of characters which might make the book seem fictional.
To Kill A Mockingbird by the late Harper Lee is a very monumental book in classic American literature. It is filled with craft moves that support the goals that Lee makes the reader aware of throughout the story. To Kill A Mockingbird is about the struggles of dealing with a court case supporting a black man, Tom Robinson, through the eyes of a young girl, Scout Finch. Scout lives with her father Atticus in a small home in Maycomb County, Alabama. She goes through many internal struggles throughout the story that she learns to deal with.

The surroundings of the trials(such as weather)changed from winter all the way through spring 1692.They also were very paranoid of a lot of things. Such as witches and the devil. Carol Karlsen 's The Devil in the Shape of a Woman: Witchcraft in Colonial New England provides a sociological and anthropological examination of the witchcraft trends in early New England. By examining the records, Karlsen has created what she suggests was the clichéd 'witch ' based on income, age, marital status, etc. She argues that women who had inherited or stood to inherit fairly large amounts of property or land were at particular risk, as they "stood in the way of the orderly transmission of property from one generation of males to the next." These women, Karlsen suggests, were targeted largely because they refused to accept "their place" in colonial society.
Most people will have obstacles in their life, and many of these people say the important thing is how does one deals with them. In Mary Oliver’s poem “Crossing the Swamp” she writes about someone's experience with an obstacle. Oliver's use of vivid imagery and captivating diction reveal the speaker’s complex attitude towards the swamp. The poem paints the swamp as an almost evil entity.

Butler, a very skilled and intelligent writer, wrote a futuristic dystopian novel about the future and what it holds for us. The book was written in the 1980’s till the 1990’s. Octavia E. Butler took actual negative acts that occurred in those years such as drug use, prostitution, and many others and predicted the severeness of what will occur in the future. In this novel, we are introduced to the main character named Lauren.
The poem, “The Death of a Toad” by Richard Wilbur, ponders the appearance and reverie that a toad may have towards the end of its life. Wilbur uses careful structure, imagery and diction to gradually show that to the speaker, the death of the toad starts as just a simple cease of breathing; but it transforms into a mystical journey. Wilbur arranges events to follow the thoughts, and adjustments, that the speaker's attitude goes through. The poem bluntly starts with the rather insensitive perception “A toad the power mower caught.” The basic absence of sympathy is obvious in the description that follows in the next few lines about the toads wounds, and actions.

As characters are exposed to different situations, their feelings and opinions change and develop. 'The Woman in Black', written by Susan Hill, is a gothic novel set in Victorian England. Arthur Kipps, a junior solicitor, is sent to an isolated town in the country to recover papers that belonged to newly deceased Alice Drablow. What he thought would be a relaxing time away from the noisy London turns into a nightmare as he is haunted by the Woman in Black. Being alone becomes a fear instead of a luxury.
The London fog, the town of Crythin Gifford, and the park scene all gives the novella a very gothic atmosphere. The novella, especially gives a feeling of dread and mystery with the atmosphere. “The Woman in Black” by Susan Hill is a haunting story that leaves the reader searching for more answers, maybe even more than
“A wonderful novel about mothers and daughters and the transcendent power of love” (Connie May Fowler). This quote reflects the novel, The Secret Life of Bees, by Sue Monk Kidd because the protagonist in the story, Lily Owens, her mother have died when she was four years old and she didn’t feel loved by her abusive father, T. Ray Owens, until she met the Boatwrights family with the housekeeper, Rosaleen, and stayed with them. The Boatwrights family are the three black sisters who are August, May, and June. This novel took place in Sylvan and Tiburon, South Carolina, where Lily grew up and where she found the answer to her questions.
