Knowledge is very important to have. Knowledge can help you prepare for things like it did in Animal Farm. When the “Battle of the Cowshed” happened, the pigs had used their knowledge to create a battle plan that would lead the humans deep into the farm. Then, the unsuspecting humans would be ambushed. This battle plan had led the animals to victory and proved to other farms that they were capable of maintaining a strong farm. Also, it takes knowledge to create and maintain a peaceful community, as you have to have the knowledge to make sure food supplies last and to make laws that the community has to follow. As in Animal Farm, the pigs immediately were put in power because they were more intelligent than the other animals. At first, this worked out fine. But after Snowball was chased out, the pigs became more and more corrupt. The pigs changed the commandments for themselves constantly. One original commandment was that no animal shall drink alcohol, so they would not be like the humans who were getting drunk constantly. But, after the pigs had found the whiskey, on page 109, it states, “But a few days later Muriel, reading over the seven commandments to herself, noticed that there was yet another of them which the animals had remembered wrong. They had thought the Fifth Commandment was ‘No animal shall drink alcohol,’ but there were two words they had forgotten. Actually, the Commandment read: ‘No animal shall drink alcohol to excess.’” Since the animals were so unintelligent, it was easy for the pigs to change the commandments. If any animal was skeptical about the commandment, Squealer, with the help of the dogs, would tell them it had always been that way, and they had just remembered wrong.
Being knowledgeable helps manipulate others into thinking the way you think. A knowledgeable person is easier to believe than an unintelligent person. Like in Animal Farm, Squealer was always able to make the animals believe what he said because of his higher intelligence. When Squealer told them things that were
