Traits define and dictate a person to be remembered in a certain way. When someone possesses positive traits, they can be well known for their behavior and be remembered in an optimistic manner. When a person transcends, they become known by people because of the impact their traits have on the world. They don’t limit themselves to just one goal and strive for more. When they don’t set limits, they find that they’re going beyond what they expect and end up accomplishing more. Not only does the person acknowledge their growth of becoming more of what they expected, but the individuals around them can feel the impact of their actions . Its meaning can be interpreted as someone who perseveres through challenges and puts their best effort towards their actions. It can be used to describe someone who has real commitment and is driven. One example of a person who transcended throughout his life is Kobe Bryant. In the article, “In Los Angeles, Latinos Are Mourning Kobe Bryant as a ‘Compa’,” a man was interviewed about Byrant and he said, “Because of him I’ve pushed myself,” said Eddie Lugo, 21. “Because of him I’m a dog on the field, on the court, on the road. I just grind because of Kobe. He’s instilled that Mamba Mentality; he’s created a whole ethic.” As a successful NBA basketball player, Kobe Bryant was known for his rock-hard mentality. His “Mamba Mentality” was his infamous slogan for trying to be his better self every day. His tireless efforts helped him become the household name he is today. He is known by many for how hard he pushed himself to work diligently. When individuals saw the effort he put in, they incorporated that energy into working to better themselves day by day in their lives. It's seen as a feeling of concern or sympathy for someone else. People who exhibit this trait might be considered warm-hearted and want to do what's right for a person. They might put others before themselves to help them go further. An example of a person who exhibits these traits is Oprah Winfrey. She is known for having a daytime television show that aired for 25 seasons that acquired millions of fans over the years. Her show took on serious issues and provided people with a safe place to discuss them. In “Oprah Winfrey: Cultural Icon of Mainstream (White) America,” the author writes about a scene from a scene in the show where it states, “This remark— hailed by Winfrey and many in the audience as a move toward racial “healing” and reconciliation—is a testament to the rise and naturalization of colorblind ideology in late twentieth-century America.” The quote behind this was said during the Rodney King trial when a woman said she didn’t see color in people. Winfrey applauded this comment and brought it into the conversation. She shows her fans that she wants to truly listen to what they say. As well, she doesn’t discourage her fans based on who they are and is known for being a person who prioritizes a fan’s opinion and wants to do the right thing.
