Kobe entered the NBA with bang. He is the first guard to ever be taken out of high school. Kobe debuted in the NBA Summer Pro League scoring 25 points while in the finale he scored 36 points. As a rookie, Kobe mostly came off the bench. At the time he became the youngest player ever play in the NBA and also the youngest NBA starter ever, Kobe played limited minutes but as the season goes by he got more playing time and shows them that he really deserves to play a lot of minutes. In the all-star weekend of his rookie season, he participated in the rookie challenge and also won in the slam dunk contest becoming the youngest slam dunk champion ever at the age of 18. In 1999 Phil Jackson entered as a coach of the Los Angeles Lakers wherein Bryant’s fortune changed at all and this is where he boomed! As years passed by Kobe became one of the premiere shooting guards in the NBA. Kobe performed brilliantly. He even scored 81 points in one of his games. He also carried his team into several finals appearances. Kobe Bryant also played for team USA in the Olympics and won two consecutive gold medals.
