All companies go through some type of changes at some point in their life career plan. These types of changes can be either good or bad and could either bring success or failure to the company. It comes down to how the company does the change and how they make the change happen. One company that has been making changes since they first started is AT&T. They have to always be prepared to go through an organizational change and now how to work through the change to make it to their overall goal. Lots of changes can be good for the company, however, there are a number of issues that can make the changes not be as good as they could be. Through the course of the five weeks our text has taught me a number of things about organization change. the text explains it as, a planned organizational change means to implement a process which moves a company from its current state to its desired future state, with goals to enhance the business effectiveness (Weiss, 2016). Knowing that, companies can take a number of approaches towards change, such as, Kotter’s approach or Lewins force analysis. The company also has to remember that there are four different types of organizational change they will have to use. The four organizational changes are developmental, transformational and transitional change. Through the next few pages we will look at how companies like AT&T were successful at organization change and how they used Kotter’s eight step process to be successful. They have been doing this by offering customers ways to connect either though television, phone, internet, and cell service. this industry is always changing and AT&T has always changed with the times. They went from things like dial up internet to being one of the first companies to offer high speed internet for customers. They know the important of change and what to do to keep the consumer happy. After the invention of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell in 1875 it has gone through a number of changes over the decades do to economic change. Consumers kept wanting more and the companies kept changing to adapt with the consumer. To understand why AT&T, we must know their history. During the 19th century Bell South was acquired by and fell under the AT&T company (corp.att.com). from the start to present time this company was always looking at ways to get better and to someday be able to call long distance overseas, which they finally did. They did not make this happen just by sitting around they had to make changes to make things
