At 12:51 p.m. on January 5, 2017, police in Kyle, Texas responded to the call from an older man, who claimed that he was stabbed by his daughter-in-law, who had also hurt her 5-year-old daughter. Due to the nature of the call, the SWAT unit was deployed to the crime scene. When the SWAT forced the entry into the home, they found 24-year-old Krystle Villanueva nude “after apparently taking a shower” (White, Documents). They also found a “male stabbing victim” (White, Documents), who was transported to the Seton Hays Hospital and later identified as Eustorgio Arellano-Uresti, that is Krystle’s 58-year-old father-in-law. What is more, a combination of more than one substance, especially including the crack probably caused substance-induced psychosis. Other than substance abuse, Villanueva was also diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) (White, Documents). It is unclear why she used a combination of three different drugs, but she might have been given “meth” as medication for treating ADHD. Due to her extensive history of mental disorders, which were combined with abuse of different substances and most likely substance-induced psychosis, it is hard to determine what exactly she was experiencing during the incident. However, she probably hallucinated as hallucinations are symptoms of schizophrenia as well as effects of marijuana and crack use. Furthermore, her “smirking in the mugshot” that was taken right after she committed a murder indicate that she was probably experiencing a manic episode of a bipolar disorder as she looks “unusually cheerful.” Regardless of the symptoms or effects experienced, Krystle Villanueva’s behavior meets all six criteria for abnormal behavior
