The Ku Klux Klan (Also known as KKK) are two different U.S. hate organizations. They are also the oldest and most infamous of American hate groups. The Klan has a history of violence as well. Klan members sought restoration of white supremacy through intimidation and violence. They employed terror for their agenda.
The first Ku Klux Klan was founded after the Civil War.The second was founded in 1915. The first Ku Klux Klan was founded in December,1866 during Reconstruction.It was a social club for confederates in Pulaski, Tennessee. It became an extremist hate group who believed all non-Caucasian people as inferior.

Fragmented groups joined with neo-Nazi or other right-wing extremist organizations from the 1970s onward. The Klan was estimated to have between 6,000 and 10,000 members in the 1990s. Most of the members were in the Deep South.
