A high school student who has no musical ability never gives up. In The No-Talent Kid by Kurt Vonnegut, Walter Plummer is a persistent young man. He is determined to make the A Band. In the band room in Plummer’s school, he is defeated by the best clarinet player. Plummer is quashed by Flammer every challenge day. He still wants to go up against him even though he knows he can not outplay him. Mr. Helmholtz has become annoyed with Plummer. Plummer thinks that he can beat Flammer because he bought a clarinet that is more exquisite than Flammer’s. Although Plummer tries, it is still irritating to listen to him play.
