Two days ago I was writing this essay on the negative impact liv golf had on golf. Then suddenly, LIV, had the audacity to merge with the PGA tour. Should I continue this topic? Should I change topic? Thinking for a while I decided to continue and talk about how liv would have had a terrible influence on golf and how it would have had a negative impact on the game. On June 6th 2023, controversial golf tour LIV Golf agreed on a merge with the PGA tour creating one of the biggest shocks in golf. Founded in 2021, Saudi-Backed LIV golf brought loudness and excitement to the traditional game. I believe that LIV golf had a negative impact on golf before both tours merged.

LIV, changing rules, potentially taking away the competitive side of golf just to create more of an atmosphere and make it more energetic. Golf is a sport that needs focus, skill, patience and concentration. Despite this, LIV have changed and taken away the traditional values from the game of golf. In PGA events the cut of 50% of all players happens after two days. The cut makes the game exciting and interesting, feeling the pressure to stay in the tournament. LIV have zero cuts, making it boring and unoriginal. This means players who play in LIV get payed a ridiculous amount of money no matter how rubbish they play, creating a more relaxed atmosphere. If you watch golf, you really can feel the emotions from the players when they miss the cut.
