Thank you to Professor Ray Wang. Through his INLS 509 Information Retrieval, I have gained a deeper understanding of Web search engines and information filtering, which can help me improve the efficiency of information collection and better utilize the understanding mechanisms of the recommender system. In the first and second semesters of studying at UNC, I chose INLS 523 Database Systems I and INLS 623 Database Systems II to learn how to process data, including basic operations such as cleaning, transforming, integrating, and analyzing data. Previously, my knowledge of data analysis was limited to analyzing the ROE, ROA, and ROI of various financial statements, and data visualization may only be based on data analysis to create Stock Price and Trading Volume charts that clearly display the company's operating situation. Through studying data analysis, which is crucial for big data technology at UNC, and through Information Analytics in INLS 625, I have learned mature and emerging analysis techniques for handling large amounts of unstructured data, including predictive modeling, data mining, text analysis, and network analysis. INLS 641 Visual Analytics is of great significance in data visualization, as it transforms data into easily understandable and analytical graphics and reports, helping users understand the meaning and trends of data. In this course, my classmates and I used what we learned to create the Interactive Global Flight Inquiry Platform. It has made me more aware of the practical application of visualization.
