The neutral was not determined due to inaccuracies during the experiment. Introduction: In order to test the purpose- to determine an unknown
Cadet Eric Wiggins Date: 18 September 2014 Course Name: Chem 100 Instructor: Captain Zuniga Section: M3A Identification of a Copper Mineral Intro Minerals are elements or compounds that are created in the Earth by geological processes. The method of isolating metals in a compound mineral is normally conducted through two processes.
The purpose of this lab was to be able to use physical characteristics to determine the identity of an unknown compound. The data from this experiment classified aluminum as metallic; ascorbic acid, paraffin, palmitic acid, sucrose, graphite, and water as molecular; sodium chloride as ionic. In order to determine this, 3 tests were conducted. The first test was to test the conductivity of each substance at room temperature. In this test, only graphite and aluminum conducted.
Introduction The purpose of this Lab was to identify the density of the unidentified object and determine what substance the unidentified object given by the teacher was. The density calculated in the experiment will stay the same because the density of the unidentified object will stay constant. The Independent Variable of this experiment was the calculated density and the unidentified object given. The Dependant Variable for this experiment was the density.
The purpose of this experiment is to perform a two step reductive amination using o-vanillin with p-toluidine to synthesize an imine derivative. In this experiment, 0.386 g of o-vanillin and 0.276 g of p-toluidine were mixed into an Erlenmeyer flask. The o-vanillin turned from a green powder to orange layer as it mixed with p-toludine, which was originally a white solid. Ethanol was added as a solvent for this reaction. Sodium borohydride was added in slow portion as the reducing agent, dissolving the precipitate into a yellowish lime solution.
The Pop Rocks have a very small amount of carbon dioxide in them. When the Pop Rocks are in your mouth they dissolve and the carbon dioxide is released making the pieces of candy explode in your mouth. When the Pop Rocks come in contact with the soda, the gas in the Pop Rocks escape after disolving and the carbon dioxide escapes from the liquid into the balloon. When this happens it causes the gas to make the balloon expand bigger and bigger until the air can escape.
C.S Lewis was born on November 29th 1998 and died on November 22nd 1963, a week before his sixty-fifth birthday. Lewis was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, he was a white, Irish man. He had a mother named Florence Augusta Lewis, a father named Albert James Lewis, a brother named Warren Hamilton Lewis, and of course Clive Staples Lewis himself or better known as C.S Lewis. When Lewis was eight in 1905 , him and his family moved to a place called “Little Tea”, his mother Florence died two years later. Lewis went to University College, Oxford, this college is one of many that he went to, but this college had the biggest impact on him because he then later went on to be awarded with many things such as: First Honor Moderations, First Ingrates,
In “Half-Walls Between Us,” and “Body Farm” both Greg Smith and Maria Said, the authors, of the two stories write vivid descriptions to describe their surroundings and events. In addition, being descriptive in their story helps the audience be able to imagine what the author is writing about. Moreover, imagery helps the readers feel like they are standing where the author’ writing is referring to. Moreover, the story “Body Farm” aids readers most in making them feel they can see the picture that Greg is drawing for them.
The name of the lab is “Drops on a Penny.” I was expected to find the independant variable, dependant variable, write a hypothesis, and test the experiment. After testing the experiment multiple times, I needed to find the average amount of drops for each trial, graph them, and tell what kind of relationship it is. The last thing I needed to do was rewrite the details of the project and write a conclusion. The point of the experiment was to have the students get used to the idea of a lab, and get familiar with independent and dependent variables.
The machine that was used for this experiment was a Thermo Scientific PicoSpin 45. The unknown compound was mixed with tetramethylsilane to use as a reference. This 1mL mixture was then put inside of a syringe and fed into the machine. There were ten peaks that were observed in the results. The highest peak shown was at 5.11ppm and this represents the hydrogen that is attached to the carbon involved in the double bond.
Get an entire package of Pop Rocks into a balloon. You might be able to pour the candies into the balloon 's mouth, but you could use a small funnel. Place the narrow end of the funnel into the mouth of the balloon and empty the Pop Rocks packet into the funnel. Make sure all the candies are in the balloon by giving the funnel a few firm taps. Place the balloon over the mouth of a bottle of soda.
Response paper #1 Recently I took a tour of the James E. Lewis Museum of art located in Baltimore, MD. This museum is a part of Morgan State University fine arts building. As I walked into the museum I notice the beautiful entrance that consist of sculptures of very important people in history. In addition I was amazed by the infrastructure of the museum and the setup of the lighting in the museum.
Meriwether Lewis once said, “I could esteem this moment of my departure as among the most happy of my life” (“Meriwether Lewis Quotes”). This is fitting considering Lewis went on an adventurous two year expedition to the Pacific Ocean. Meriwether Lewis is associated with the American Romanticism era. The Romanticism era began in the early 1800s and continued until approximately 1865. This era valued unspoiled nature, relied on intuition over logic, and believed in the importance of individual freedom and liberty.
The Department of Justice has a long history of enforcing the law and defending the interests of the United State. Starting out as the Office of the Attorney General in 1789, the one person position was responsible for prosecuting and conducting all suits brought to the Supreme Court and giving advice and opinions on all questions of the law (“About DOJ”, n.d.). When the work became too much for one person, Congress passed an act to establish the Department of Justice in 1870. Increasing litigation prompted the hiring of more private attorneys to handle all criminal prosecutions and civil suits with the Attorney General as the head of the agency (“About DOJ”, n.d.). Today, the agency is comprised of 42 separate components including U.S. Attorneys
However, any doubts regarding the results may be traced to a few elements of the experiment that lend themselves to possible error. The following factors may have contributed to potential errors in the experiment; the need to zero the machine between each of the readings in obtaining the absorption spectrum and the resulting peak wavelength, the precision with which a person can accurately adjust the needle on the spectrophotometer to zero is limited, not putting in the inaccurate amount of cobalt chloride or water into the substance, and getting oil from our fingers onto the
