Everyone needs a label of some sort. It tells who the person is in the world. In the novel Flawed by Cecelia Ahern the character Celestine experiences the label of perfect and flawed. Labels matter because labels can identify a person quickly, and they feel like they belong. Labels affect the identity of a person or try and find out who they are. Celestine said in the beginning of the book she said, “I’m a perfectionist” (3). What celestine means by this is, she thinks she is perfect and everything about her is perfect, every shape and form. But towards the end of the book, she slowly found out that no one is perfect. It effects Celestine by, when she was labeled she realized that her body was not the same and she did not want anyone to see it until Logan’s party happened then once she arrived at the door she got a bag over her head and got kidnapped by Logan and his friends then she got undressed and had to show her body off when she was insecure of it because of her labels and scars. In the book Flawed it states, “I am not that person anymore” (146). This shows that Celestine is trying to find clothes for school that morning, but ever since she was branded, they feel the same anymore. This proves that labels do matter. If a person changes a school into a new school, they do not feel like that student belong in the beginning until they start to make friends then they start to find out some names to call that individual since they have been a good friend to them for a while. They start to realize that they are making that person fit in by giving them a name that makes them feel like they belong in that school. If they change in any way, shape or form, people will start to call that person out for it and then they do not feel like they belong. Some kids will make fun of that person for not having the greatest body then start calling them names they do not
