The nurse and Lady Capulet are foils because of their drastic personality differences. The nurse is very funny and protective, while Lady Capulet is uptight and serious. The nurse and Lady Capulet are different because the nurse is funny and a jokester, while Lady Capulet is uptight. In Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet”, the nurse and Lady Capulet are very different. For example, in act two, scene four, we can see the nurse making fun of Juliet to lighten up the mood and make things more fun. There are many different times that we can see this throughout

Romeo and his friends find her funny because of her looks and her clothing. Lady Capulet, however, is very uptight. In Act one scene 3, we can see Lady Capulet never seeming to change her mind from her husband’s thoughts. She likes to agree with what he is saying because she believes that his opinion is one of the best. We can also see Lady Capulet believing money is one of the most important things because she wants her party to be the best of the best, meaning people will think they have money. As you can see in the examples, the nurse and Lady Capulet have very different characteristics. The nurse provides comedic relief throughout the movie, while Lady Capulet is always grim and uptight. This shows how the nurse would be perceived as more of a mother figure for Juliet because she is not always formal and boring, but adds some fun into Juliet’s life. Lady Capulet never seems to talk to Juliet and she is always wanting and trying to be prim and proper. These examples show how Lady Capulet and the nurse are foils to each other. In the movie, the nurse is protective and Lady Capulet is very
