In the books Lady Q, Monster and The Color Of Water the main characters all grew up as inner city kids that had the opportunities to join the gang life or to go to school to get a good education to go on to a fulfilled future. In Lady Q and Monster, Sonia and Cody both ended up joining the gang life. Cody seeked community and found it in the gang whereas Sonia wanted an education and attention from her family but was incapable of getting that which pushed her to the gang where she continued to chase her craving. The difference between Cody and Sonkia was that in the beginning and the end she didn't care to be in the gang and she wanted more than that but Cody didn't aspire an advance in life. In specific, I thought Chuy deserved a 4- because he used evidence from the text to support his claims showing he was able to strongly sight his source. He was also able to answer many questions about his book is a clarifying manner. Chuy could have improved his performance by making eye contact and asking appropriate questions to the other members of the discussion. Next, I thought Sayer deserved a 4+ from her high engagement and interest in the other books. She asked many appropriate clarifying questions and held strong eye contact. The only thing she could have done better was to put more effort into finding the motivation of her characters actions in the book she read, Monster. For the next group member, Tristan, I feel life she deserved a 4 for appropriate eye contact and because she was about to explain the events in her book very well and why the character in her book turned out the way he did. She could have asked more questions towards the other group members to further the discussion. Finally, I judge that Mariana deserved a 3+ in the discussion because she demonstrated use of the socratic circle sentence starters and used good eye contact. Mariana could have been more outspoken with and events in her book and what she thought about them. She also could have asked relevant
