Title: Animal farm, Language manipulation and propaganda

Language is a powerful tool and a basic means of communication. It can have strong influence in people’s daily life whether it is in a positive or negative way. In addition, some people tend to use it for their absolute advantage or benefit. Similarly, with an excellent use of language, people or groups can cheat, deceive, spread false rumors. Animal Farm, a political allegory written by George Orwell suits this best. Indeed, Orwell shows how the pigs’ use of influential language manipulates and enslaves the animals. The animal farm exemplifies the Russian revolution.
In starting the revolution, Old Major is in the forefront. He has excellent credit from the animals in the Manor farm for his ability to articulate the language of his speech. Furthermore, they are ‘’ready to lose an hour’s sleep in order to hear what he has to say’’ (13). For that matter he is a highly regarded animal in the farm. His first dramatic speech does not only clarify how life is ‘’miserable and laborious’’ (15) but also inspires the animals in realizing his dreams into a revolution/rebellion.
In implementing the rebellion, language is still instrumental for Napoleon, Snowball and Squealer. After Old Major’s death; there of them elaborate his teachings and give the name of ‘’Animalism’’ (23) as a new doctrine. The name actually symbolizes communism according to the article in ‘Animal farm and the Russian Revolution’. Without using the power
