They are both concerned about the fact that introverted individuals in our society are discriminated. People perceive introversion as a sign of weakness in character and the incapability to make the accomplishment. However, in fact, introversion is only a unique type of personality. Solitude is not a disease; rather, it can be very beneficial to the development of people’s minds and bodies. Extroverts like to be talkative and to express their idea externally, yet introverts just prefer to digest information personally. Many of the most influential artists and scientists in the human history were known to be introverts, such as Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein. Dossey summarizes that introverts are more likely to engage in deep thinking activity and see through the surface of different situations. I appreciate the way Dr. Dossey analyzes the advantage of promoting introversions under different situations. For instance, he mentioned the success of a leader depends on the personality type of his or her employees at work. Extroverted leaders work better with introverted employees who are more skillful in taking in advice, while introverted leaders and extroverted employees seem to also create a better working environment together, since introverted leaders would be more likely to respect and consider those proactive ideas proposed by his employees. The idea about introversion and extroversion are identified in nearly all animal species really draws my attention. It was compelling to learn about introverted and extroverted fruit flies. There are fruit flies that prefer sitting still, and there are also those ones that have to explore their surroundings constantly.
