Leadership is a process of influencing and bringing together people of diversity not to coerce and manipulate them, but to empower them in what they do. Larry Ellison is an icon of power business and demonstrates a leadership style that has empowered many in his organization and eventually contributed to the overall success of his business. Ellison’s Personality Ellison’s personality is impressed with his being intelligent and an extrovert. He is “extraverted, intuitive, thinking, perceiving (ENTP)” (“ENTP The Visionary”). • Creates negative reactions from highly skilled and motivated workers: An autocratic leadership style usually tends to dampen morale and reduce the team’s creativity and productivity. “Autocratic leaders in this situation may not make the best decisions since they lack the group input from team members who have experience and skills” (Travis). Furthermore, the autocratic leader tends to be manipulative as they “make their employees believe that they have participated in the decision-making process” (Hirayappa, p.205) • Leader dependence: The autocratic style is usually “effective only when the leader is present, that once the autocratic leader is gone, there is no guarantee that team members will keep working” (Travis). Any style of leadership when used inappropriately can lead to feelings of resentment or aggression in subordinates. Autocratic leadership has served Ellison well in reaching his goals, thus it can be well taken that the essential strategy of innovativeness even by a single individual can take a whole organization to a strategic direction towards
