This novel was written by James Fenimore Cooper and was in the series called the Leatherstocking Tales. The Last of the Mohicans was written in 1826. The book took place during 1757 during the French and Indian War, primarily taking place in the wilderness in New York, and at first talked about two daughters of Colonel Munro, Alice and Cora, on the way to Fort William Henry. Although on the way Duncan Heyward, a major in the British Army, has suspicion about Magua, their guide, and the guide takes him through a shortcut unoccupied by British soldiers, eventually they meet up with Hawkeye, which agrees with their suspicion, however the guide finds out and runs away most likely to get support. Hawkeye leads the group to a cave for hideout, although the Hurons find them and attack, Hawkeye and his Mohicans escape with the promise of coming back for them. …show more content…

Magua then sentences them all to death, however Hawkeye and the Mohicans return and save the sisters and Heyward, in which they ran away to a broken down building. Hawkeye and the group dodge a couple of attacks that could of happened, although he succeeded to lead them to Fort Henery. Munro sent Hawkeye to get reinforcements, however he gets captured by the french, and is eventually sent back to Fort Henry without a letter. The General of the French Army invited Munro to a parley to show that there wasn't going to be any reinforcements, so Munro agreed to leave and withdraw from the war for 18 months. Magua captures Alice and Cora after 2,000 Hurons attacked British prisoners. Hawkeye follows them and intercepts them and follows them to the village, where they find Gamut who tells them that Alice is held in the village. Cora belongs with the Lenape. Hawkeye and Uncas go to save Cora, while Heyward goes after
