She uses witty one liners and immense sarcasm to explain the division between groups of Puritans. She also uses examples from important documents and events to illustrate the contrast in the groups reactions.
They stood in the light of the setting sun and awaited to be called true heros. Throughout the movie Shaw’s actions showed faith and equality to the men. In the final battle Shaw got of his captain's horse and fought with the men on the ground. Shaw showed his greatest transformation at his last battle;becoming a great leader powerful and inspiring music plays in the background adding to the drama and creating suspense for the upcoming battle but also symbolizing that. Shaw’s men’s views changed.
Flags of Our Fathers, a book written by James Bradley, is the story capturing the lives of the six men who raised the flag on the island of Iwo Jima as they fought before, during, and after World War II. One of these men was James Bradley’s own father. James found old boxes full of articles and imagery taken from the war. Through these documents, he then discovers that his father was one of the six men who raised the flag at Iwo Jima and goes on a search to find out as much as he possibly can about the other five flag raisers. All in all, the six young men included were John Bradley, Franklin Sousley, Harlon Block, Ira Hayes, Rene Gagnon, and Mike Strank.
Both works focus on the horrors of war and what it does to the soldiers. The message the works convey both demonstrate how awful war is. They both demonstrate soldiers opinions on fighting and the war in general. Both are very good at using descriptive words and painting a very visceral picture

The story gives me a newfound respect for the Army and the soldiers who were deployed in Iraq around that time because of the constant harassment the insurgents gave the unit.
