The castles, the kings and queens, and the gallant knights most of us would like to live in that time of knights and princesses, but there are many downsides. The Black Plague, the widespread poverty, and the fact that the majority of the population was uneducated were all major flaws in this time. Would you really want to live in Medieval Europe? Doctors tried unsuccessfully to get rid of the illnesses around them. They had no books to read or books from other doctors they only used trial and error with their patients.

Introduction From 700 A.D to 1400 A.D, feudalism was the way society was ruled. God and the king had all the power during the Middle Ages. Peasants and serfs were the lowest class. Your family history and wealth determined your class level.
Think of what people sacrificed for us to have computers, cellphones, microwaves, and electrical power to use on a daily basis. During the Industrial Revolution, which was between the late 18th and 20th centuries, people started to invent new technologies that made products quickly and more efficiently. However, children were being exploited by their bosses, England also was forbidding colonies to develop any domestic industries, and people didn’t live in sanitized areas. I believe that the Industrial Revolution had a negative effect for people living in England in that time period.
The Industrial Revolution was overall a negative thing because if forced childhood labor, caused the environment to fail, and it brought many negative effects onto the people. The Industrial Revolution brought a big change upon the society, one example is childhood labor. Children were forced to work and were often severely injured because of the factory work they were assigned to do. In Document 10 it speaks about how severe these injures can get.
A social code called chivalry was created for knights in medieval Europe, stressing ideas such as courage, loyalty, and devotion which is seen as a good thing. The ideal knight was loyal, brave courageous, and protected the weak and poor, but most knights failed to do this, treating the lower classes brutally (Doc 5). Gothic style architecture could also be considered part of the Golden Age because of its extravagance. Unfortunately, large churches called Cathedrals were built in the style using the church's dirty money; it showed off the church’s wealth (Doc 9). The time period could be called Golden since older knowledge was preserved and influenced the future.
Chivalry as a concept that has baffled countless medieval historians throughout the years. Chivalry was supposedly a code that knights and nobles lived their lives by. However, similarly to other social structures that were in place in the past historians have debated over the extent to which people lived according to chivalric principles. Sir Walter Scott believed chivalry was meant as a code which knights could aspire to, but not one that was carried out in the real world. This conclusion gives a clear picture of chivalry.
The English government could do little to stop the colonies founding in the 17th century; benign neglect is the best description of their tolerance without supporting the colonies. They tried to coordinate the founding of colonies, collect taxes, and make other benefits from the colonists work. Affecting the English government, most of the New England colonies were formed without their approval. They were begrudgingly recognized eventually; in the rule of Charles the Second, in the late 17th century, that benign neglect ended. He immediately stopped enduring the colonies prominent disregard for English policy, revoking charters and political status.
Chivalry is defined as the medieval knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code. The tale of Morte d’Arthur shows the Code of Chivalry when the Knights of the Round Table display courage or bravery, wisdom of morals, and loyalty to their king. During the late middle ages in Europe, life still was a struggle and many remained in poverty, but was in the midst of a transformation. Population had decreased because of the Black Death, but was slowly growing and this change led to an increase in land; this increase came with a price increase as well. Young aristocratic boys were sent to schools to learn about nobility through combat, riding horses, hunting, and handling weapons. The church was very supportive of the way of the warrior, and chivalry evolved from nobility. Being chivalrous meant to defend the church, city or town for glory on the battlefield. Young males would compete in tournaments to prepare for combat once they were knighted. The roles of men and women changed in the medieval period, and responsibility played an important part for the class structure.

Feudalism is the system of both government and land ownership, where in exchange for a nobleman 's oath of loyalty, a king would grant them land.
