Latin American music came to America and blended with Jazz, Swing, Rock, and Country music in the early part of the 20th century as the Latin immigrants made way into the streets of the predominately black Harlem, in 1917, in search for a new life and prosperity to East Harlem (Spanish Harlem). The Latin people have made way to the United States to escape poverty and racism in their countries. It wasn’t long before Jazz was influenced by the younger Latin generation. Although the communication was not easy, the Latin and American cultures bridged the dividing cultures through music.
