Have you ever wondered, how the Disney Company came to be? Or maybe, how the company grew so popular? From the start of Laugh-O-Grams in 1921 to Disney World in 1971, we have it all. From the Characters that began the ever popular shows and attractions, To the “Sea to Shining Sea” with the theme parks in Florida and California. Even though the Disney Company has grown and developed to what it is today, they have had drastic falls and major triumphs, and also made changes that helped the company stay alive, through hard times with a little magic! To get to where the Disney Company is today it had to start somewhere. In this case the Disney brothers (Walt and Roy) tried several times to create a successful business. Walt’s first short (or a small length video/film) was shown in a local movie theater in Kansas City. In a new location and new part of the states the groupe thought they should start anew. This time called the Disney Brothers Studio, The “Alice in Cartoonland” series were started up again and received another deal. This time it was not a local deal, it was one even bigger. A woman named Margaret Winkler wanted to distribute the cartoons in New York. She also wanted the rights to distribute “Oswald the Lucky Rabbit” (Disney’s first cartoon character). Alice in Cartoonland and Oswad rights were given to Margaret for $1,500 for each short sold! Only to find out that the Oswald character was stolen from the company along with all of the employees.
