Dedicated, caring, and helpful are just three of many words that come to mind when I think of Laura Welch. Laura is relatively new to the Western Oregon University family, joining the University Housing department as the Coordinator for Leadership and Programs this past summer. BillyAnn Stempel, the Residential Program Programming Assistant, praises her adviser saying, “Laura has taken on every challenge thrown at her so far this year. With just under three months of being at Western, she is already like family.” She also acts as the advisor for the Residence Hall Association and National Residence Hall Honorary. For only knowing Laura for a short month, she has proved to be an amazing adviser by going above and beyond any expectations set. Within this time frame, RHA Executive board had the privilege of working with and getting to know Laura. It was extremely evident to us that Laura put significant time, energy, and consideration in the preparation of our staff’s training sessions. We received incredibly well-rounded training that included The Student Leadership Challenge, StrengthsQuest explorations, and ways to be a successful student leader. In addition to leading training session, Laura also actively participated in sessions lead by other professional staff members.
