Melinda feels a lot of emotions from the incident and has a little too much on her shoulders. She is mentally struggling, and they cannot even tell because of how much they are not home. They do not even hear her out or ask why her grades are so low. They just assume that she is being lazy and not doing her work. Underage drinking is illegal yet very popular. There are many different reasons why teenagers drink. Some teenagers drink to appear cool, while on the other hand others drink for stress related issues. It has now become a rampant activity being done by many teenagers of today’s generation. Some teenagers sneak and drink at parties and other places without their parents even knowing.
Peer pressure is quite the controversial matter today. It is the feeling that someone your own age is pushing you toward making a certain choices, good or bad.(The Cool Spot). The level of peer influence generally increases as children grow and it has become an important influence on behavior during adolescence. Many researches and surveys have been done to find the answer to the question whether peer pressure is beneficial or harmful for teenagers. While Karcher &Finn (2005) claimed that peer pressure is the biggest factor result in bad behavious of adolescents; Bukowski (1998) and Salvy (2011) argued that pressure from peers can bring amazing benefits for them.
Teens and drinking have been an issue for some time and it continues to persist, attracting many young individuals. Whether it’s the pleasure or the ability to forget problems drinking as a teen has become a problem in society with many alcohol related issues. However, that sensation of being able to forget problems soon enters a cycle of many other issues such as consequences to the physical development and to the body itself, which is not able to handle the alcohol properly. In addition, soon the early admission of the depressant becomes and an addictive factor which can lead to alcoholism since the body constantly craves the substance. Teens and drinking has continued to progress over the years and the depressant has consumed many lives.
Almost everyone has experienced peer pressure at least once in their lifetime,either on a small scale or a large one, in a positive or a negative way. Peer pressure is simply when someone gets you to do something. It is quite easy to get influenced by peer pressure (especially in the teenage years) because everyone wants to fit in and not be left out. Teens sometimes give into peer pressure by doing risky things. Correct friends -are more likely to- play more safe decisions in general.
