Law Abiding Citizen In the movie Law Abiding Citizen, Clyde Shelton is seeking revenge on the American Justice System because in his mind, justice hasn’t been served. Clyde was an innocent and honorable family man until his wife and child were brutally raped and murdered right in front of him where he was helpless and couldn’t fight back or help them, leaving him emotionally scarred for the rest of his life. One of the men who broke into his home were convicted and given the death penalty and the other who actually did the killing and raping got off easy with only a few years in prison. Because of this and the event Clyde was forced to experience, his mental stability is not intact and he feels he has to do a number of things to prove that the system is corrupt. The film takes place in Philadelphia and tells the story of a man who takes justice into his own hands to seek revenge not only on his family’s murderers but also those who have supported a corrupt justice system. Nick gets angry because he keeps killing off people after he won’t go through with the deals. He meets with him outside of the prison and punches him over and over. Clyde stands up and tells him that he’s just getting started. Nick soon realizes the reason Clyde is doing all of this when he goes to Sarah’s funeral. The district attorney, Jonas, asks Nick if he thinks they brought this all on themselves. Nick tells him absolutely not and Jonas asks him if he actually believes that.
