It is my desire to pursue a career in law. It has been a desire of mine for several years and has become a goal I have set for my life and future. The reason I’ve come to have a passion for law is that many of the people I look up to have had an association with law. People such as Thurgood Marshall, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Charlotte E. Ray. With this in mind for my future, I will be participating in a Job Shadowing opportunity with Judge Jaiza N. Page. Having this opportunity for my Senior Seminar project will allow me to have a better insight into the the field of law as it relates to my future plans. I do have the opportunity to learn more Law in a CCP Quest for Justice course I take at school through Keyon College. Even though I have little knowledge of the justice system in a real-world setting I am fortunate enough to build my knowledge with this opportunity. I wish to learn the basics of being part of the justice system such as litigation, legal issues, trial preparation, legal memos, and the general order of a law firm. I also desire to observe and study cases to see what being an attorney is like, while getting an idea of the path I have to take to reach my goal of being part of the justice system. I will be learning how the court system works and the different roles of the judicial system and their roles. I desire to learn the basics of being a judge/attorney and what goes into pursuing law as a career path. To guide and support me through this process, Judge Jazia N. Page, a Judge for the Franklin County Clerk’s office, will be my On-Site Advisor and will be helping me achieve my goal of 80 project hours. Over the summer my cousin interned with Judge Page and told me how amazing the experience was. After doing research on my knowledge over the past few months, having the opportunity to shadow Judge Jaiza Page was my first choice when thinking about this project. I will spend my time there reading through cases, observing and studying the courtroom while also gaining a basic knowledge of the judicial system.
