The PBS documentary, Law and Disorder, discusses issues with policing during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. As we all know hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in the fall of 2005. Katrina took the lives of many people and destroyed the town of New Orleans. Many people were left stranded on rooftops and fighting to survive. The only hope they had was from the local police department other disaster relief agencies. This documentary shows how the New Orleans Police department took matters into their own hands during a devastating disaster. Correspondent A.C. Thompson went back to New Orleans, years later, to investigate the death of Henry Glover and other issues among the New Orleans Police Department. This documentary helps prove the illegal and unethical actions of the officers and New Orleans Police Department. Looting became a major problem during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Police were in a rough situation and communication was down for the district. The situation started to get out of hand and an officer was shot and killed during the chaos. At this point in time, current and retired officers stated they were told Marshal law was in order and to do what ever they had too. Marshal law was never, ordered, to be put in place. The officers of the New Orleans Police Department were doing just that. They started shooing people who were looting, planting guns on alleged suspects, starting stand offs, hiding evidence and covering up the truth. The governor of Louisiana even made a press statement, to the people, telling them the National Guard was brought in and will use deadly fore when necessary. During this time Henry Glover was shot.
